FAQ
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to have questions about what to expect. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions clients ask. If you don’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I provide telehealth sessions only. This means all sessions take place virtually, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home while still receiving the same quality of care as an in-person session. Clients will receive a secure link to our session ahead of time, making it easy to log in from your computer, tablet, or phone.
Yes. I am licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin and also authorized to practice through PsyPact, which allows me to provide therapy in many participating states across the U.S. This expands access to care for individuals who may be moving, traveling, or living in areas where resources are limited.
You can check if your state is part of PsyPact here: PsyPact Map.(https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
Once you reach out, I will respond to schedule a brief phone consultation or an initial intake appointment (whichever you prefer). In our first sessions, we’ll focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, your goals, and your background. We will also talk about what you hope to get out of our work together and begin creating a plan tailored to your needs. Many clients find that simply starting the process brings a sense of relief.
Sessions are generally 55 minutes long. Most clients start with weekly sessions and as we make progress towards goals, we can adjust frequency based on your specific needs.
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some clients benefit from short-term work focused on specific issues, while others engage in longer-term therapy for ongoing support and deeper exploration. We will regularly review your progress to determine what feels right for you.
Yes. I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), and UnitedHealthcare. Clients also have the option to pay out of pocket if they prefer. If you have another insurance provider, I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so with at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice or missed appointments will result in a cancellation fee of $100.
You may cancel by sending me a secure message through your portal on SimplePractice, by email, text, or phone call at 847-220-8788.
Yes. Your privacy is very important to me. What we discuss in therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions (such as risk of harm to self or others, or as required by law). We’ll review confidentiality in more detail during our first session.
Because I provide scheduled therapy sessions and not emergency services, I may not be immediately available in a crisis. If you are ever experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
